The Business Management programme covers extensive theoretical concepts of managing business and adopts a practical approach in assessing students e.g. by discussing case studies, conducting market surveys and, preparing and making presentations under “real-life” business environment. With such practices, students will be able to apply what they have learnt in college to real business situations in their future professions or business ventures. On top of the “hard” elements of business, the programme highlights the importance of other “softer” areas of business like governance, ethical and psychological issues of business which of late have become critical “strategic issues” in leading and managing high performing organisations. This holistic approach will have the effect of making the programme more effective and yet balanced and complete.
The programme also places emphasis on communication, time-management and presentation skills. Students are given the opportunity to practise these ‘acquired’ skills through both group discussions of assignments and presentations throughout the entire programme. Consequently, these students will become more confident and pro-active, hence more employable when they enter the business world.
In addition to this, the programme puts emphasis on the “character and attitudinal” aspects of the students by providing ample opportunities for them to develop their leadership and organisation skills such as requiring them to occasionally organise activities like study tours to factories, board-games, etc..
The programme helps students gain a good knowledge of business management theories, quantitative, analytical and presentation skills which are much sought after by employers in various business and managerial concerns.
